I discovered an agate field a couple miles from my house while walking my dogs. Rediscovered is a more accurate word. What drew my eye to this very nice chalcedony were broken shards left on the surface by native Americans who traveled to the site to make tools and weapons from this beautiful, hard, glassy material.
