This banded agate comes from central Mexico. A Zen ethic is generally employed in the cutting of agate, similar to Buddhist paintings made with a single stroke of a broad brush. You make a single slice through the agate nodule and are left with a mirro split revealing all you will ever know of that stone. My technique is to expose all layers of color from every possible angle while creating a shape that is sleek and organic. The banded agate is a stone promoting emotional balance and mental clarity. The design is intended to enhance this property creating an object of meditation and contemplation.
