I originally cut this stone because of its strong blue color, but as it revealed itself I saw a different meaning. This is banded agate, a stone associated with growth and stability, but more specifically chalcedony, which is generally unlined and is prized for deep translucent color. On the bottom of the stone there is an area of white banding. It has a long white tail and an oval head. The chalcedony is shaped like a horn and widens out to a beautifully rounded empty space which I inlaid with an amber tinged Welo opal. The finished piece presents a union of masculine and feminine energy with a core of light: a powerful fertility totem.
